APPLICATION CHECKLIST

PLACEMENT TESTING

All 8th grade students applying for admission to Knoxville Catholic High School must take a placement test to determine admittance into Knoxville Catholic’s academic programs.

TEST DAYS

DATES:

The High School Placement Test (HPST) will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 at 8 a.m. The makeup placement test will be on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024 at 8 a.m.

Pre-registration required; access code is ZN. Register HERE.

BRING: Students should bring two No. 2 pencils and the $25 testing fee (checks made payable to KCHS). Calculators, mobile phones, iPads, or any other electronic devices will not be permitted in the testing room.

DROP OFF: Check-in for the placement test begins at 7:30 a.m. in the Main Administration Building (Commons area). Testing begins promptly at 8 a.m. Once testing begins late entry is not permitted.

PICK UP: You may pick your child up at 11:45 a.m. in the traffic circle in front of the main entrance.

Additional Math, Foreign Language & English Placement Tests
Incoming freshmen students who are already taking Algebra I in 8th grade will be given an additional math placement in the spring. Our Math Department will organize this testing day with the Catholic Foundation Schools (Sacred Heart, St. John Neumann, St. Joseph, St. Mary’s-Oak Ridge, Episcopal School of Knoxville). Students not attending a foundation school will be contacted by the Admissions Office to schedule a testing date.
Catholic Foundation School Students
Our Foreign Language Department will schedule an additional testing day and our English Department will schedule a timed writing assignment, both in the spring.
