To Our KCHS Community,

In 2005, KCHS was blessed with the news from Sister Rose Marie, who was then the Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters of Nashville, that the school would be beginning a new partnership with the Dominican Sisters, as two sisters were placed at KCHS – Sister John Catherine and Sister Andrea Marie. I remember this well since it was also my first year as principal.  For many of our students, this was the first time that they had ever seen a sister.  I remember hearing two students walking in the hallway that year and one said, “I have one of the sisters as a teacher, and you know, she seems like a normal person.”…. imagine that!

Over the weekend, Sr. Rose Marie passed away and today she will be laid to rest in Nashville. I am grateful to her for her decision to allow sisters to become part of the fabric of our teaching community here at Catholic High. Please pray for the repose of her soul and for her family. May she rest in peace.

Spirit Week 2018 – We are officially less than one week away from Spirit Week 2018, which is one of the greatest weeks of the school year for our students.  For all the details, please see the attachment.  Speaking of Spirit Week, one the many areas where students compete as a class is through the canned drive. We are raising money and bringing in cans to support the Ladies of Charity.  Please consider some donations in this area as it will go to help the neediest in our Knoxville Community.

Sophomore Retreat  – is this Friday, September 7.  Sophomores may come out of uniform and shorts are permissible.

Play Auditions  – will be taking place today and tomorrow after school in the Megan Birkel Performing Arts Room for the fall play, 39 Steps, which is a murder mystery. Good luck to all the students who will be seeking a role.

Coffee with the President – every year, our IPN (Irish Parent Network) hosts several of these informal gatherings to talk about life at Catholic High.  These are held at the All Saints Parish Hall (adjacent to the Church) from 8:15 to 9:15. Our first one is this Thursday, September 6.  Please feel free to join us.

Coffee Fest – will be held in the courtyard next to the St. Patrick’s statue on Saturday, September 8, at 7 pm.  Come out and support all of students who will be performing on this night.

Community Tailgate – is Friday, September 14, prior to our Homecoming football game vs. Soddy Daisy High School.  Great times for all ages – stay tuned for more details.
