Dear KCHS Community,

This year marks my 27th year in working with Catholic high school students (14 at KCHS), and I have talked to so many parents through the years about the experience of taking their kids to college.  Well, yesterday, Jeni and I, along with our three other boys, got to experience this for the first time as we took Jack to South Carolina.  While there were some emotional moments, I have to say that the day for me was filled mostly with excitement for Jack. Knowing that he was about to begin a journey that will hopefully be one of the best times of his life actually brought some comfort.  As parents you simply hope and pray that you have helped prepare them for this exciting time. I also feel very blessed that Jack’s last four years have been spent with some incredible teachers, counselors, coaches, friends, and family members of friends who have all played an important role in his journey.  Please keep all of our graduates in your prayers as they begin their new school years.

Recently, we have seen in the news the horrific reports of abuse that have occurred in the various dioceses of Pennsylvania. There is no defense for any behavior that knowingly puts children in danger, either through negligence or simply having poor judgement. Our Bishop, Richard Stika, has written a response to this Grand Jury Report and that response is attached to this email.
