On Aug. 28, KCHS will host an All-School Assembly featuring David Francisco and his wife, Kristi. David’s story is one of love, forgiveness, and the power of music. In April 2016, while riding his bicycle in Nashville, David was hit by a distracted driver. Doctors told him he would never walk again. David was angry, confused, in enormous pain—and yet he never hated the driver who hit him. He knows that forgiveness brings life and resentment brings death. Through hard work and months of intensive therapy, David is walking, making music and is now married. David appeared on American Idol less than two years after the accident. He is passionate about inspiring others to own their choices and encourages everyone not to be a victim.

David will speak to our students about:

  • Dangers of distracted driving
  • Anti-bullying
  • Bicycle safety (wearing his helmet saved his life)
  • The power of forgiveness
