IrishThon is a brand new event at Knoxville Catholic. It is a “mini marathon” of the University of Tennessee’s VOLThon (their dance marathon). IrishThon’s donations will combine with UT’s to benefit the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at East TN Children’s Hospital. IrishThon is the first dance marathon at a high school in Knoxville, raising $3,500!
As the IrishThon club, we hosted several fundraisers throughout the school year as well as doing personal fundraising. KCHS students Joshua Borja and Spencer Stovall were our top personal fundraisers. On Saturday, March 30, 2019, a dance marathon was held at KCHS to celebrate all the hard work our student body put in; we had food, games, and dancing. The only rule was that no one could sit down during the four-hour marathon, derived from the Children’s Miracle Network motto of “stand for those who can’t” and “this generation fighting for the next”.
IrishThon celebrates the perseverance the kids at Children’s go through everyday.
We truly found a passion at East TN Children’s and can’t wait to spread awareness and get an even bigger crowd back for IrishThon next year! Thank you so much!
