KCHS Launches Phase III...The Field House
Knoxville Catholic High School is engaged in a fundraising effort to expand our facilities and ensure our future as an institution of excellence. In November of 2006 we launched the three-phased Living our Mission through Growth Capital Campaign.
PHASE I: Build a 19,000 square foot academic wing that will serve an additional 200 students and meet the needs of our growing Catholic community. Construction started in May of 2007 and students began using the new classrooms and guidance suite in January of 2008. COMPLETE
PHASE II: Raise the funds to increase the KCHS endowment to $1 million, providing the school with a sound financial foundation. COMPLETE

PHASE III: Expand our current training facilities to accomodate growing sports and wellness programs for boys and girls.
Our Need
Since building our Fox Lonas campus in 2000, Knoxville Catholic High School’s enrollment has increased more than 60 percent. We have 650 students using less than 1,400 square feet of weight training space. More than 420 athletes are sharing 44 lockers, 12 showers and two locker rooms designed to serve 100 students. Our athletic programs are operating beyond capacity. As the school strives to meet and exceed physical education requirements, we are feeling the constraints of our current facilities. By expanding we will enrich the KCHS experience for every student.
Our Goals
- Retain an on-staff trainer that will work with students to provide sport-specific workout regimes.
- Offer weight training and fitness equipment that meet the diverse needs of our students and athletes—improving strength, speed, endurance, agility or flexibility.
- Increase storage (currently there is no space available to store supplies and equipment) and improve safety, sanitation and performance.
Project Timeline & Budget
Knoxville Catholic has received more than 75 percent of our project budget in pledges and gifts. We hope to raise the $250,000 deficit in the spring of 2008 and begin construction in May. Our students will be using the Field House by the 2008/2009 school year.
