Gifts Via Credit Card
KCHS accepts VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS. Online donations may also be made through a secure server.
Gifts of Stock
Giving stocks and bonds that have increased in value (and which you have owned for more than one year) provides greater tax benefits than giving cash. Not only can you deduct the full market value of the securities, but you avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
- Step 1: Please contact the Development Office at 865/560-0525 with the number of shares and the name of the stock you plan to transfer.
- Step 2: Please contact your broker and request that the stock be electronically transferred to the KCHS account:
UBS Financial Services Inc.
800 South Gay Street East, Plaza Tower Suite A, Knoxville, TN 37929
Financial Advisor: John MacDonald, Sr. (KCHS Class of ’71), 865/522-5183
Account #: KA 31829 12
DTC #: 0221
The value of your securities gift may be slightly different from the actual sale price. The gift value will be the average of the high and low selling prices of your stock or bond on the date of your gift. You may deduct the gift value of these securities for up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. Any excess can be carried over for an additional five years if necessary.
Securities that have decreased in market value still make a beneficial gift to the KCHS. First, sell the securities, then give the school the cash gift. You can deduct your capital loss to offset any capital gain you realize in the year of your gift.
A planned gift (also known as a deferred or estate gift) is a wonderful way to support Knoxville Catholic, and may provide additional tax or financial benefits.
A BEQUEST is one of the simplest ways to leave a lasting legacy and ensure the future of a quality Catholic education. Bequests to KCHS are deductible from your gross estate and offer estate tax savings. As a nonprofit corporation, we are not subject to estate taxes. Donors can remember Knoxville Catholic High School through three types of bequests:
Specific Bequest – KCHS as the direct beneficiary of a specific amount of money, percentage of your estate or piece of personal property.
Residuary Bequest – KCHS will receive all or a portion of the remainder (residue) of your estate once all specific bequests to family and friends have been satisfied.
Contingent Bequest – KCHS as a contingent beneficiary to receive assets in the case that your named individual beneficiaries do not survive you.
Please consult your tax advisor for more information.
Thousands of companies have established programs that will match employee charitable donations dollar for dollar. This is an easy way to double, or even triple, the size of your Annual Fund contribution! Please ask your employer if your company will match your gift.
A donation of needed goods or services qualifies as a gift-in-kind. Examples are printing services, landscaping, and some equipment. Please contact the Development Office at 865-560-0525 to inquire about current needs.
