Attention all students who have signed up to take AP Calculus AP next year. Your summer packets are ready and may be picked up from Mr. Bartlett in room C12.

There will be a mandatory lacrosse club meeting today after school in the cafeteria.

Birthday wishes go out to Tia Knight, Maggie MacKenzie, Logan Trupovnieks, Brandon Morgan and Alvaro Ayo-Laporte, who are celebrating their birthdays today.

Calling all St. Mary’s School alums: On Sunday, May 20, join us at the St. Mary’s Youth Building from 1:00-2:30 p.m. to say farewell to Mrs. Cathy Lowden and Mrs. Karen Maston as they prepare to leave St. Mary’s School at the end of this year. Light refreshments will be served.

Students who plan to take the driver’s permit test this summer need to sign up for the required 1010 Attendance Form in the front office before Tuesday, May 22.

Students: If you have prescription medicine and/or Epi-pens in the front office, please stop by to pick up your medications before Tuesday, May 22. All medicine is discarded as soon as the school year closes.

The Lady Irish Tennis Team is playing a sectional match today against Dobyns Bennett high school at Cedar Bluff Racquet Club at 4:15 p.m. With a win, the team advances to the State Tennis Tournament. Please come out to the team and cheer them onto victory.

2012 Latin Convention

Congratulations to the Knoxville Catholic Latin students who competed in the Tennessee Junior Classical League Convention on April 13,2012 in Murfreesboro. The 24 KCHS students were joined by over 800 other Latin students from more than 35 schools from across the state for a day of fun and competition in the spirit of the Roman world. Students took academic tests in ten different categories, competed in costume contests, a Mythology Spelling Bee, English oratory, Latin oratory, essay and poetry contests, skit and graphic arts competitions.

Knoxville Catholic finished third overall in their division this year. KCHS also finished 1^st in the banner competition, 1^st for spirit (Rhett Dunlap), 1^st for scrapbook (Kerry Campbell, Danielle Rosenzweig), 2^nd in Intermediate Certamen (Corey Patton, Peter Ponce, Rebecca Dietz, Ben Nadolsky), 2^nd place in the Toga Relay (Brent Cooper, Tanner Hamil, Elliott Allen, Zach Gee), 3^rd place for the chariot race (Evan Nelson, Henry Norris, Rhett Dunlap, Patrick McFall, Charlie Simmins), and 1^st place for skits (Brent Cooper, Ashley Gensheimer, Sarah Parsly, Zach Gee, Danielle Rosenzweig, Charlie Simmins, Evan Nelson, Kerry Campbell, Tanner Hamil, Patrick McFall.)

Shamrock Open

Mark your calendars for the 26th Annual Shamrock Open, which is being held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Egwani Farms Golf Course. There will be two flights: 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person or $400/team. We hope to see you on the course

Green & Gold Gala

Knoxville Catholic’s first ever Green & Gold Gala was a huge success and raised nearly $50,000 for the school’s academic programs and classroom technology! The Gala not only celebrated KCHS and her 80 years of inspiring excellence, but also provided an opportunity to welcome new and old friends! This inaugural event welcomed more than 230 guests, including alumni, past and current parents, corporate representative, and other community friends.

Adult Faith Formation Classes

The KCHS Religion Department is offering parents the opportunity to learn more abou their faith as they shepherd their children through the high school years. On the third Wednesday of every month, a different faculty member will host a discussion centered around adult faith formation at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.
