KCHS EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Students excel in learning environments that provide an outlet for their creativity and challenge their perceived limitations. The club program, under the direction of the Student Council, meets during Break, enrichment class or after school, with each club alternating times and days.

Knoxville Catholic High School offers the following clubs and activities to enrich our curriculum. All student activities and clubs associated with KCHS must have approval of the Principal and operate under the supervision of an authorized person. National Honor Society
Faculty Moderator: Mr. Joe Hollander
The Pacelli Chapter of the National Honor Society inducts members from the junior and senior classes each year. To be eligible for membership, the following criteria must be met:

  1. A student must have earned a minimum of 3.5 simple cumulative grade point average at the end of the 1st semester of the junior year (or 3.5 simple cumulative GPA at the end of the 1st semester of the senior year for students who were ineligible the junior year). This GPA must be maintained until a student’s graduation.

  1. Current members of the National Honor Society, as well as those petitioning for membership, must be committed to the stated principles and values of KCHS. During membership or the three-semester period prior to induction, these students may not have had any serious disciplinary infractions including, but not limited to, fighting, cheating, stealing, dishonesty, alcohol and/or other drug-related infractions. Any violation of the KCHS Honor Code may jeopardize induction to or current membership in the National Honor Society.

  2. In addition to service hours required by the Religion Department, the student must perform a minimum of 20 hours of community service within the three-semester period prior to induction.

This work may be done independently or in conjunction with a service club, and it may be performed over the summer. Documentation of the service hours must be attached to the student’s petition for membership. Failure to perform service hours required in religion classes or forgery of documentation of religion service hours jeopardizes induction or current membership to the National Honor Society.

  1. A student must be active in at least two approved extracurricular organizations. These do not have to be sponsored by the school but are subject to approval by the NHS Moderator.

  2. Selection for membership in NHS is reviewed by the Faculty upon receipt of a
    student’s petition for membership.
