President's Email- Week of September 18

To Our KCHS Community:

This is a big week for our school community as we welcome all our parents to the annual KCHS Open House this Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Parents will gather in the Gym for a short meeting which will be followed by an opportunity to go through your student’s class schedule and meet our teachers. The class periods will be brief and we will conclude the night at approximately 8:00 p.m. I encourage all parents to make plans to attend the Open House.

National Merit Semifinalist – Congratulations goes out to Josie Boder, Caroline Consoli and Nathan Geist for being recognized as National Merit Semifinalists. In short, this means that each of these students placed in the top 1% of all high school seniors in the State of Tennessee on last year’s PSAT. A list of KCHS seniors who have been named as National Merit Commended Scholars will be coming soon.

Community Tailgate – Just a reminder that our annual Community Tailgate will be this Friday, September 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the practice field. For $10, you can get a great barbecue dinner and a ticket to the game. We will have a bounce house for the little ones and all our foundation schools will be on site for the event. The tailgate will be followed by a great football match up as Catholic welcomes nationally ranked Brentwood Academy (currently ranked 9th in the nation) at 7:30 p.m.

Calendar Incentive – We have added an additional incentive for our students to sell some calendars. If a student sells 6 calendars, they will receive an extra day of an excused absence; 12 calendars sold will = 2 extra days of an excused absence. The students may choose which semester to use their extra day(s) off.

Our Lady of Fatima Statue – Upon returning from his pilgrimage, Father Michael Hendershott gave KCHS the gift of a Pilgrim Virgin statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The statue is displayed in the KCHS commons and it will remain there as a reminder of Our Lady’s maternal care for us, of our school-wide consecration to her Immaculate Heart and of Our Lord’s invitation to a Christ-like Marian devotion.
