Although, the KCHS volleyball team had a slow start, teamwork and consistency improved as the season progressed and the Lady Irish finished with a winning record. A season highlight was hosting the first Newks Blarney Stone Volleyball Classic. The Lady Irish surprised many by making the finals before losing to a very talented Morristown West team in a close match. Of the nine teams in the Blarney Stone, six of them to a regional, sectional or state tournament.
The team finished third in district 4AAA with a 9-5 record. The girls defeated West High in their first district tournament match, followed by a big win against second-seeded Heritage. Farragut defeated Catholic in a thrilling five set match in the finals. The Lady Irish earned their first-ever trip to the regional tournament as a member of AAA and lost in a close match to Hardin Valley, winner of district 3AAA.
