2011 Cross Country Review

The KCHS cross country team had another incredible season! During the Tennessee Classic in Nasville, the teams faced some of the toughest competition in Tennessee and Kentucky. The girls finished strong in second place, while the boys team placed fourth. At the Jesse Owens Classic in Alabama, both teams competed against the best of the best in the Gold Elite race. The girls finished an impressive sixth of 39 teams, while the boys fought to 17th out of 42 teams. The boys team battled to their best KIL Championship finish ever, claiming third place, while the girls placed fourth.

Individually, the girls team has been led by junior Ashley Welborn, who finished 17 out of 184 runners at the State Championships in November. On the boys team, Elliot Consoli, also a junior, broke the school record for 5K several times this year, most recently with a time of 16:10. Elliot finished 15 out of 189 runners and was awarded All-State Honors. Way to go Irish Cross Country!
