Knoxville Catholic High School offers students a diverse curriculum, with core courses generally taken for two consecutive semesters.
KCHS has a seven period rotating schedule, with each class meeting for 55 minutes four days per week.
Course level placement for incoming freshman is determined by:
- Recommendations from eighth grade teachers
- Current course grades and past test scores
- Application essay
- Placement test administered by KCHS
Our curriculum is offered at the three instructional levels listed below. Students may take classes from each academic level as appropriate to their skills and abilities.
College Prep: Some independent study and a fast learning pace characterize this level.
Honors: These courses are designed to challenge gifted students to pursue their studies at in greater depth and at an accelerated pace.
Dual Enrollment: This Honors level class is designed to give students credit in both English IV at KCHS and English 1010 and 1020 at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. The six hours of credit are transferable to all state colleges.
Advanced Placement: Courses structured on the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB), teachers and students operate on the assumption that many juniors and seniors can complete college level courses in secondary school.
