The Guidance Department promotes school success through prevention and intervention, advocacy, social/emotional development and career exploration.
The Guidance Department offers individual student counseling, academic advising, standardized test analysis, crisis counseling and referrals for counseling or academic needs. Resources are posted and updated on Edline that include information on colleges, admission processes, financial aid, scholarships, standardized testing and careers.
Parent Nights are coordinated through the Guidance Department, providing grade-level information to parents and families.
Our Special Needs Office is a safe place, providing comprehensive services to our students with special learning needs. Our counseling staff includes a Special Needs Coordinator and a Psychologist that work with students to match their learning styles to a curriculum plan. We offer courses for those who learn best at a decelerated pace and require a more guided approach to their studies. All of our courses are designed to prepare students for success in college and beyond.
The new home of our Special Needs Program will be a safe and supportive environment where counselors:
- Provide student evaluations and testing services.
- Identify students with qualifying special needs and determine their unique challenges.
- Implement an individualized program of instruction.
- Meet with students, parents and faculty to monitor progress, adapt course work and provide support.
SAP provides a confidential setting for students to talk with qualified professionals about personal concerns. Students can schedule appointments through guidance counselors or the school receptionist; appointments usually take place during the school day.
